Weir reconstruction at Wharepapa South– Seepage Assessment and Preliminary Design

DABA Engineering Limited completed a seepage assessment and preliminary design for the reconstruction of an existing weir on Wharepapa South, approximately 33 km east of Ōtorohanga.

The assessment evaluated potential seepage pathways beneath and around the proposed structure. DABA developed a practical concrete-block and riprap solution that considered the existing riverbed conditions, restricted site access, availability of construction materials, and constructability requirements. Preliminary design recommendations were provided to support the weir reconstruction and mitigate the risks of seepage and erosion.
