Waipā River Weir – Condition Assessment and Rebuild Options

DABA Engineering Limited completed a condition assessment and options report for the reconstruction of an existing gradient-control weir in the Waipā River. The weir maintains upstream water levels required for the effective operation of the adjacent water-treatment plant pump station.
Following a site inspection and review of the available geological information, DABA assessed the deterioration of the existing steel sheet piles and evaluated practical reconstruction options. Recommendations were provided to improve the weir’s structural stability, long-term durability, safety and functionality.
